My designs kept dying in translation. Now I direct the agents that build them.
The short version
I am a Lead Product Designer at JPMorgan Chase Home Lending. The work spans product strategy, experience design, and shipped UI code. I lead the human side of an agentic loan origination system and build the design language, component library, agent tooling, and standards around it.
Agents write most of the code. I decide what deserves to exist and how it should work, then apply the engineering judgment needed to direct the build, inspect the result, and bring it to production quality.
How I got here
Directing agents closed the distance between the design file and the build. It also changed how I think about design leadership: coaching can improve one decision, but components, skills, and checks make that quality durable. I now apply that approach to the component library, the evaluation framework, and the way I coach designers.
What guides the work
Question the premise before designing the interface. A $5M budget did not make the advisor app the right answer. Research gave product leadership a better basis for the investment.
Make the abstract tangible. A working prototype lets partners evaluate the interaction directly and gives engineering a clear record of the decisions needed to build it.
Put standards where the work happens. Coaching develops judgment. Components, skills, and checks keep the quality bar present across people, projects, and agent sessions.
How I lead
I lead by making the direction and quality bar concrete, then coaching people through the decisions that matter. On the loan origination system, I lead two designers and a front-end engineer. Across Home Lending, I coach peer design leads on using AI in their design practice.
If a standard matters, it has to live in the workflow and be easier than working around it.
Off hours
Away from work, I play Rachmaninoff, Chopin, and Beethoven. I plan to build a piano-practice app next.
